As we mark the Lunar New Year – a time traditionally associated with reflection, renewal and fresh beginnings – we at Alpha Ring are taking the opportunity to look back with pride on a year of significant progress, and to look forward with excitement to the year ahead.
Over the past year, we have continued to advance our mission to accelerate access to fusion energy and to empower a global community of researchers, policymakers and innovators. Several key moments stand out in shaping our journey and putting us on a strong footing for the year to come.
⚛️ The Monaco Clean Fusion Forum
In April last year, with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Alpha Ring convened global leaders working at the intersection of fusion, AI and international policy at the Monaco Clean Fusion Forum. From in-depth discussions on fusion technology and talent development to showcasing the potential of Alpha-E and remote learning, the Forum demonstrated the power of collaboration in advancing clean fusion energy. I am grateful to all those who contributed to making the event both impactful and forward-looking.
🔬 Global Academic Partnerships
At the Forum, we also formalised partnerships with leading universities and research institutes worldwide to deploy Alpha-E tabletop fusion systems for hands-on research and education. These partnerships represent an important step toward building a truly global and collaborative fusion education and research ecosystem – one we look forward to expanding in the year ahead.
🌏 Expanding Our International Presence
Throughout the year, Alpha Ring significantly expanded its global footprint, with events across Europe, the United States and Asia, including roadshows in Japan and Singapore. From engaging leading plasma physicists to discussions on national fusion strategies with policymakers, each exchange reinforced the critical role of international collaboration in accelerating safe, clean and affordable fusion energy.
💼 Leadership & Strategic Growth
We continued to strengthen our leadership, welcoming Dr Charles Gary as Alpha Ring’s new U.S. CEO. With more than 30 years’ experience, including at NASA, Charles’s track record of translating advanced research into commercial technologies will be instrumental as Alpha Ring enters its next phase of growth and innovation.
We also welcomed Hsin-Mao Huang as the new CEO of Alpha Ring Asia. With more than 20 years’ experience across capital markets and industrial sectors, Hsin-Mao brings deep expertise in cross-border investment and industrial scale-up as Alpha Ring advances its commercialisation strategy in Asia.
💡 Thought Leadership & Industry Insight
Throughout the last 12 months, Alpha Ring shared perspectives on how technologies such as AI are shaping the future of energy – highlighting the importance of collaboration, data accessibility and talent development in achieving commercial fusion. I shared my reflections on powering the next energy revolution with Asian Investor, and our Asia Chairman, Peter Kurz, joined The Economist’s Money Talks podcast to discuss broader economic and technological themes influencing the region.
✨ Looking Ahead
Building on the achievement and momentum of the past 12 months will be pivotal for Alpha Ring as we reach new milestones and expand our presence into new markets. Continued R&D and strategic global partnerships will be central to our progress.
